The contest for the House of Representatives seat for Obanliku/Obudu/Bekwarra Federal Constituency in Cross River State has gained momentum following the formal entry of social entrepreneur and public official Antonia Agbede Ally.
In a statement issued on Monday by her Media Secretary, Adebola Bolatito, Ally confirmed that she has obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms, signalling her intention to contest in the 2027 general elections.
She said her ambition is driven by a commitment to deliver “impact-driven representation” for the people of Northern Cross River, with a strong emphasis on inclusion and equity.
“We stand together as one voice—a community united in the pursuit of justice, fairness and inclusion. That call is clear: women must be represented in our constituency,” she said.
Ally highlighted the contributions of women across communities, noting that despite their roles in economic and social development, they remain underrepresented in legislative decision-making.
“Our women have carried the weight of progress—from homes to markets, farms and offices—yet their voices are often absent where key decisions are made,” she added.
Widely recognised for her work in the non-profit sector, Ally said she intends to leverage her experience in community development and humanitarian service to shape effective legislation, particularly in healthcare, youth empowerment and sustainable growth.
Her entry, she noted, introduces a development-focused perspective into the race at a time when constituents are increasingly demanding responsive and people-centred leadership.
Ally is the founding Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the HOW Foundation, through which she has led social impact initiatives targeting vulnerable groups for over a decade. In late 2025, she also launched the Agbede Foundation in Obudu to expand grassroots interventions in vocational training, healthcare delivery and education.
She holds a degree in Business Management and Marketing from Brunel University London and began her career in the private sector before transitioning into social development.
Her declaration adds to the growing list of APC aspirants ahead of the 2027 elections, setting the stage for a competitive race in the constituency.
