Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akoko Southeast and Akoko Southwest Federal Constituency of Ondo State have endorsed Dr Victor Olusegun Ategbole as their consensus candidate for the House of Representatives seat ahead of the 2027 elections.
The endorsement was made at a stakeholders’ meeting held at Owalagba Town Hall in Oka-Akoko, with representatives from all 26 wards in both local governments in attendance.
In a communiqué signed by the APC Chairman in Akoko Southwest, Sunday Agbede Aijulu, the leaders said the decision aligns with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s call for consensus among aspirants.

They noted that consensus and direct primaries remain the party’s recognised modes of candidate selection, adding that backing Ategbole would enhance development in the constituency.
The leaders also cited voting strength as a key factor, noting that Oka-Akoko, Ategbole’s hometown, accounts for about 74 per cent of the electorate.
They expressed confidence that his candidacy would boost the APC’s chances in the election and strengthen support for President Bola Tinubu.
The endorsement was later ratified by the APC in Akoko South West, with party members pledging to mobilise support across all wards ahead of the primaries and general election.
