From Bassey Anthony, Uyo

More stakeholders across sociopolitical blocs in Akwa Ibom State have thrown their weight behind the second-term bids of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Godswill Akpabio, and Umo Eno.

The latest endorsement came from stakeholders in the Oron Federal Constituency, which comprises five local government areas dominated by the Oro ethnic group—Oron, Mbo, Okobo, Udung Uko, and Urueoffong/Uruko.

The group, made up of traditional rulers, community leaders, and members of the academia, expressed satisfaction with the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration, noting that they have begun to yield tangible results.

They also commended their representative in the House of Representatives, Martin Esin, for what they described as credible performance, particularly in aligning with the Federal Government’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and the state government’s ARISE Agenda under Governor Eno.

The stakeholders further appealed to Governor Eno to retain Akon Eyakenyi as deputy governor, citing continuity and stability in governance.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ engagement on the proposed University of Maritime Studies held in Uyo on Sunday, former Sole Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Effiong Akwa, praised Tinubu for what he described as bold economic reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Akwa said the reforms have laid the foundation for long-term fiscal stability and improved investor confidence, adding that Nigeria is gradually repositioning itself in the global economic landscape.

He also commended the leadership of the 10th Senate under Akpabio, as well as Governor Eno, for fostering inclusive governance and collaboration across party lines in Akwa Ibom State.

''Senator Akpabio and our Governor,Umo Eno have shown inclusive leaderships which has greatly imparted on our people

The NDDC sole administrator lauded the member representing the Oron Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Martin Esin, for his worthy representation, while also calling for his endorsment for second term.

Also, the former Senator representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, Senator Nelson Efiong, lauded President Bola Tinubu, Senator Godswill Akpabio and Governor Umo Eno whose leaderships he noted have impacted possitively on Nigerians

Others who spoke in support of the endorsement include former members representing Oron Federal Constituency,. Hon. Sir Esio Oquong Udoh and Chief (Barr.) Peter Linus Umoh, former Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem and others

Moving the motion for their endorsement the Chief Whip, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. Hon. (Chief) Efiong Johnson, flanked by all members of Akwa Ibom State House said in view od the laudable achievements of Mr President, the Senate President, our Governor, Umo Eno and worthy representation of our Hon Martin Essin, I hereby move a motion for their endorsement for another term.

The motion was seconded by the Executive Chairman, Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Uno Etim Uno,  flanked by all the Local Government Chairmen of Oro extraction.

Meanwhile, in a communique issued at the end of the engagement , stakesholders expressed concern over the non-implementation of the University of Maritime Studies, Oron act which was assented by late President Mohammadu Buhari, in 2023

They however expressed profound gratitude to the Member representing Oron Federal Constituency, Rep. Martins Esin, for his sustained efforts towards the actualisation of the University of Maritime Studies, Oron and extolled efforts of other stakeholders and groups who have contributed significantly to the ongoing pursuit of the actualisation of UMSO.

The stakeholders strongly frown at the continued budgetary provisions and statutory allocations to the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, despite its abolition by law and the establishment of the University of Maritime Studies Oron (UMSO) in its stead.

They resolved that the Federal Government should ''implement the UMSO Act and put an end to the illegality of the continued non-compliance with theextant law, actualise the take-off of UMSO, and immediately constitute a Governing Council for UMSO, and appoint a Vice-Chancellor and Principal Officers for the institution''
