Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and security agencies in the state have been commended for curbing insecurity and ensuring a peaceful Easter celebration.

The commendation was given by Pastor Ola Amuda, a former aide to late Governor Olusegun Agagu, on Monday in Akure.

Amuda said residents had expressed concerns ahead of the Easter festivities due to recent security breaches and alleged threats from a terrorist group targeting the state.

He noted that the atmosphere was tense, with reported cases of kidnapping, including incidents within some government health facilities in the state capital.

He, however, praised the swift response of the state government and security agencies, which he said helped to neutralise the threats and restore calm across the state.

“We thank God for the prompt initiatives of the governor and security operatives in dispelling the threats and creating a peaceful environment,” he said.

The community leader also referenced a recent security report detailing incidents over the past eight months, noting that the government had taken strategic and largely unpublicised steps to address persistent threats.

Amuda described Aiyedatiwa as a focused leader committed to peace and security, adding that the governor had demonstrated the political will to back security initiatives with concrete action.

He further commended the collaborative efforts of the police, the army, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the state security outfit, Amotekun Corps, for their coordinated approach to tackling insecurity.

Amuda specifically lauded the Commander of Amotekun Corps, Otunba Adetunji Adeleye, for his dedication to maintaining security in the state.

While felicitating residents on the Easter celebration, he urged Christians to continue praying for the government and those in authority to sustain peace and stability.

He also called on citizens to support the administration and security agencies to consolidate the gains recorded in maintaining law and order across Ondo State.
