Edo youths have commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for supporting the successful hosting of the 2025 Edo Carnival and ensuring the resolution of concerns surrounding delayed prize payments to participants.

The carnival, organised by Peak Rendezvous with support from the Edo State Government and other stakeholders, had earlier generated controversy after some participants took to social media to complain about unpaid prizes.

However, the presentation of rewards on April 18, 2026, in Benin City has now eased tensions, with many beneficiaries expressing satisfaction over the outcome.

Speaking during the prize presentation ceremony, co-convener of the event, Hon. Daniel Eromosele, clarified that the Edo State Government was not the direct organiser of the carnival but only provided support for the initiative.

According to him, Peak Rendezvous handled the planning and execution of the event.

He explained that misconceptions surrounding the structure of the carnival contributed to the public criticism and urged people to refrain from spreading unverified information.

Eromosele noted that beyond entertainment, the carnival was designed to promote Edo cultural heritage, foster unity among youth.
