Anambra state government has disclosed the launch of ANAWOOD for the training of youths in filmmaking and making the state a choice location for movie sets and shooting.

Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Comrade Don Onyenji, in a chat with newsmen, also revealed that an arts and crafts exhibition has been held for creatives to showcase various works in the state.

"ANAWOOD is not only a vehicle for creatives in the state but also an avenue for training youths in filmmaking, as well as making Anambra a choice location for movie sets and shooting," he said.

According to the Commissioner, through deliberate efforts, the state government has made Anambra a destination of choice through tourism infrastructural projects and policies aimed at distinguishing the state from other states.

He said, "Solution Fun City, Awka is reputed to be the best in sub-Saharan Africa, being a leisure and entertainment park with multiple facilities offering top-quality experiences.

"The same goes with the Awka City Park for hosting different kinds of events, making the state a proud destination of choice for all.

"The fencing of 30 hectares of Agulu Lake has been completed, while efforts to convert a section into a beach for leisure are ongoing.

"A comprehensive tourism master plan comprising five heritage sites, including the Ogbunike Cave, Owerre Ezukala Cave and Waterfall, Awka City Park, Anam Beach, and Agulu Lake, is being developed."

Onyenji further revealed that exhuming the core values of Ndigbo, with a focus on hard work and enterprise beyond the current get-rich-quick syndrome, is part of value reorientation efforts toward upholding the rich cultural heritage and values of Ndigbo.

"Investors can now invest and reap the full value of their investments," he added.
