Ikorodu City FC delivered a statement performance in Lagos on Monday, defeating Wikki Tourists FC 3–1 to reclaim third place in the NPFL standings and reshape the race for the league's Golden Boot.
The Oga Boys wasted no time asserting control at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. Farouk Salami opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a sharp finish, setting the tone for a dominant first half.
Abayomi Ayodeji doubled the lead in the 18th minute, capitalising on sustained attacking pressure.
The defining moment came in the 37th minute when Joseph Arumala calmly converted from the penalty spot to make it 3–0 — his 13th goal of the season — sending him to the summit of the NPFL scoring chart.
Wikki Tourists pulled one back through Jonathan Mairiga in the 66th minute, but the damage had already been done.

Beyond the three points, the result carries deeper significance. Arumala's rise to the top of the scoring table adds a compelling twist to an already intense Golden Boot race, giving Ikorodu City not just momentum in the standings but a reliable edge in attack at a crucial stage of the season.
Hot on his heels is Victor Mbaoma of Remo Stars with 12 goals, alongside Uche Collins of Katsina United, setting up a fascinating three-way contest.
The narrative becomes even more intriguing given that Ikorodu City travel to Katsina next, where Arumala will go head-to-head with Collins in what could prove a decisive clash in both the top-three race and the battle for individual honours.
Further back, Godwin Obaje and Emeka Obioma remain within striking distance on 11 goals each, ensuring the race stays wide open.
