The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards has named Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha as hosts of its 12th edition.

The announcement ends IK Osakioduwa’s run as host. Osakioduwa anchored the AMVCA since its debut in 2013, hosting the show 11 times.

Organisers said the new pairing combines strong comedic and narrative skills with global screen presence and advocacy work.

In an Instagram post, the organisers described the duo as a powerful fusion: “A master of wit and narrative, and a global icon of screen and advocacy. This is where mastery meets African excellence.”

Bovi is known for his comedic timing and storytelling while Mbatha is recognised for her acting career and humanitarian work. The combination is set to deliver humour and pan-African appeal on stage.

Nominees for this year’s edition were unveiled last month. 'Gingerrr' and 'The Herd' lead with nine nominations each across acting, directing, and technical categories. 'To Kill A Monkey' received eight nominations, while 'My Father’s Shadow' by the Davies brothers earned seven.

Veteran actress Joke Silva will serve as head judge for the 12th edition.

The 12th AMVCA will hold on May 9, 2026, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
