The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has outlined fresh performance targets for its leaders in preparation for next year’s general election.
The party emphasized that political strength will not solely be measured by success at individual polling units but by overall performance at the Ward level.
State Chairman, Emperor Jarret Tenebe, delivered the directive during the conduct of local government congresses across the state’s 18 local government areas.
APC local government executives were elected through affirmation, with Tenebe overseeing the process in Oredo Local Government, led by Pa Osaretin Osarenkhoe.
Tenebe also stated that the party will assign greater responsibilities to members who demonstrate effectiveness in mobilizing voters to polling centres.
According to him, "We are not going to rely on leader who win their polling unit but lost at the ward level. There are proper stakeholders that are not seen.
"The party will recognise those who mobilised voters to come out and vote. The party will not tolerate leaders who go home to monitor the election from their homes. You must win your unit and your ward. If they refuse to deliver they are no longer leaders. This time, those who work will be recognised. Work hard to ensure you churn out the required votes."
Acting Chairman of Oredo local government, Gabriel Iduseri, urged the new Excutives to carry all members along for total victory in next year's general election.
An aspirant for the House of Representatives, Osaro Obazee, said it was the season to reward hardworking members of the party.
Obazee stated that members who remained steadfast in the days of agony would be rewarded.
