A Lagos-based startup, Candoxa, has introduced a new digital infrastructure to safeguard creators’ reach and identity as tightening global regulations threaten content visibility on major platforms.
The company said its solution comes amid emerging regulatory frameworks, including the European Union’s Digital Services Act, which are expected to influence how content is distributed across platforms such as YouTube and Facebook.
Industry observers have warned that such regulations could compel platforms to prioritise or restrict content visibility based on compliance requirements, potentially limiting creators' organic reach.
Co-founder and Vision Lead, Adekoya P. Best, said many creators currently operate at the mercy of platform policies and algorithms.
“Creators are building on rented land. If distribution becomes regulated at the platform level, then reach becomes permissioned. Candoxa removes that dependency by giving creators a direct channel to their audience that cannot be throttled or re-ranked,” he said.
Candoxa’s model anchors creator identities and content footprints on the blockchain, allowing users to maintain a verifiable, portable digital identity independent of any single platform.
The firm explained that every post, link, and interaction becomes part of a creator-controlled identity layer, enabling direct communication with audiences without algorithmic filtering.
Also speaking, co-founder and Culture Lead, Ololade Rhodah, noted that the initiative goes beyond technology to address broader concerns about digital ownership.
“This is not just about technology. It’s about ownership of voice and continuity of presence. Creators shouldn’t lose their audience or identity because policies shift somewhere else,” she said.
The startup identified two major risks facing creators in the evolving digital landscape, namely reduced visibility due to algorithmic or regulatory controls and identity disruption arising from account bans, impersonation, or platform policy changes.
According to the company, its infrastructure is designed to mitigate these risks by ensuring creators retain both their audience reach and digital reputation regardless of external platform decisions.
Candoxa said it is currently in its growth phase, with its blockchain layer still under development, as it seeks to position itself as a foundational solution for creators navigating an increasingly regulated online ecosystem.
