A former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, said the outcome of the 2026 governorship elections in Ekiti State and Osun State will serve as a major test of strength for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oyintiloye, an APC chieftain who represented Obokun State Constituency in the Osun Assembly, said in a statement on Sunday that the party must secure victories in the two states to strengthen its chances in the national elections scheduled to hold a few months later.
He noted that decisive victories in the Ekiti governorship election slated for June 20 and the Osun poll scheduled for August 15 would reinforce the political momentum of Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, APC members must remain united and work collectively to secure victory in both states, stressing that success in the two governorship contests would further demonstrate the party’s dominance in Nigeria’s political landscape.
“The Ekiti and Osun elections will serve as a litmus test for the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections in the country. Both are crucial because they will be conducted only a few months before the general elections. The party must win the two states,” he said.
Oyintiloye added that victories in the states would boost the party’s confidence and strengthen its position nationally.
He further described the Osun governorship election as particularly significant, noting that the APC is preparing to reclaim the state from the incumbent administration.
According to him, the party is confident of success in the Osun poll due to the strategic planning and collaboration among party leaders in the state.

“We are confident of victory because the leaders of the party in the state, national leader, Chief Bisi Akande, the Osun State leader and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and the National Secretary of the party, Sen. Ajibola Basiru, and the state party chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, among others, are working tirelessly for the APC’s victory.
“The task has become easier with the choice of our candidate, Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, who is a capable, reliable, dependable, a promise keeper and who is acceptable to the majority of our members and others in the state," he said.
Oyintiloye, however, appealed to the aggrieved APC members to set aside their grievances, rededicate to party supremacy, and work for a victorious outing for Oyebamiji.
He said that the contributions of all party members will be key to the success of APC at the poll.
