The governor praised Senator Tinubu’s record of public service, recalling her years in the Senate and her advocacy for policies that positively impact Nigerians.
“We are blessed to have a humble and compassionate First Lady who genuinely cares for the poor and the vulnerable in our communities,” Oborevwori said.

He recalled her August 2024 visit to flag off the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) empowerment programme for the Southsouth in Asaba, and her March 2025 visit to launch the Free to Shine programme, during which 10,000 professional kits were distributed to midwives across the region.
The governor also commended her respect for traditional institutions, saying her decision to honour royal fathers outside the formal programme during a previous visit strengthened ties between the state government and traditional rulers.
Oborevwori reaffirmed Delta’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his reforms, assuring the First Lady that the state would continue to align with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Senator Tinubu called on Nigerians to embrace unity across ethnic, religious and political lines, noting that national progress depends on collective harmony.
“Where there is unity, there is prosperity. The Bible tells us that it is pleasant to dwell together in unity, for there is where God commanded blessings”, she said, citing Psalm 133:1-3.
She referenced the coincidence of the Christian Lenten season and the Muslim fasting period as a reminder of the need for togetherness, urging Nigerians to rise above divisions.
As part of the Renewed Hope Initiative, the First Lady announced a N50 million empowerment grant for 1,000 women engaged in petty trading in Warri Kingdom.
She said the support was aimed at strengthening small businesses and improving household incomes.
She expressed gratitude to the Olu of Warri and the people of the kingdom for the warm reception and cultural displays.
The First Lady described the visit as an emotional homecoming.
She also thanked the Delta State Government for the hospitality accorded her.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Senator Tinubu assured the people of the Federal Government’s continued support, noting that Delta State was making commendable progress under Oborevwori’s leadership.
Ogiame Atuwatse III described the First Lady’s visit as symbolic and timely, noting that it coincided with the periods of Lent and Ramadan.
He urged Nigerians to let go of past grievances in the interest of peace and development, assuring the First Lady of the prayers and support of the Warri Kingdom.
At the event, Senator Tinubu was conferred with the traditional title of Utukpa-Oritse of Warri Kingdom, a recognition of her humanitarian efforts and contributions to women’s empowerment.
The reception attracted prominent dignitaries, including former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, lawmakers, traditional rulers and senior government officials.
The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro, described the First Lady’s one-day visit as a significant and welcome development.
He expressed the confidence of PAP stakeholders and beneficiaries that Senator Tinubu’s visit to Warri Kingdom would serve as an impetus to the Programme’s drive for sustainable peace, security and development in the Niger Delta.
Otuaro, in a statement by his Special Assistant, Media, Igoniko Oduma, described the First Lady as a symbol of national peace and unity, which are cardinal pillars of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
“The First Lady is a kind, empathic leader, and it takes a generous heart to be able to do the good things Her Excellency is doing to uplift humanity through her Renewed Hope Initiative,” he stated.
