Dr Milicent Awuzie, daughter of Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, Dr Chioma Awuzie, was at the weekend joined in holy matrimony with her heart-throb, Raymond Okoye, in Awka, Anambra State.

He said: “Raymond, you’ve not just found a beautiful wife, but also a well-trained and groomed wife. Bible says he who finds a wife finds a good thing. The good you’ve found today is far more than rubies.

“These number of guests here today are not here because of you, but your parents. Going forward, you’ll know that the marriage is between you and your wife.

“Don’t be carried away by the glamour of what you see here today. As soon as we have finished, take your wife and run because it’s you and her alone.

“None of us here is qualified to be part of this marriage. We can only be witnesses, which terminates today. After feasting and enjoying, leave this couple alone. It’s no longer your business.

“Minor decisions you can take, including the type of food, clothes you like. But other decisions you must allow her to decide, including management of money, house to buy, children to have, among others.

“If you don’t do that, I can assure you that your marriage will be like a boat on the water surface without settling.

“The worst thing that will happen to you is for your wife to wake up with a sad face. Don’t ever make her unhappy. That’s the key to a successful marriage.”

The visibly excited Rector, Awuzie, appreciated the guests for honouring her invitation, praying God to grant them their heart desires, especially those trusting Him for similar blessings.

She wished the couple peaceful, loving and fulfilled married life.

“I want my daughter and her husband to build their marriage on love, trust and understanding. With these three virtues, the enemy and intruders will be far away from their marriage.

“I want my son-in-law to love his wife so dearly and my daughter to be submissive to him.”

Earlier in his homily at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka and Wonderland, Agu, Awka, Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Rt Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor, commended the couple for seeing the need for their union to be blessed by God before embarking on the journey.

He described love as the bedrock of marriage, urging them to love each other to guarantee a long lasting union.
