The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State has announced Dr Jamilu Shaiyaku Gwamna as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 general election.
The decision was reached at an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting presided over by the party leader and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON.
The meeting also ratified consensus candidates for the state’s three senatorial districts, six House of Representatives seats and 24 state House of Assembly constituencies.
The session was attended by governorship, National Assembly, and state assembly aspirants, members of the State Working Committee (Exco), party elders, and other critical stakeholders, including the Deputy National Financial Secretary of the APC, Northeast zonal officials, and other senior party figures. The adoption of consensus candidates followed extensive consultations spearheaded by Governor Inuwa Yahaya, involving senior party figures, EXCO members, aspirants and grassroots stakeholders, aimed at deepening internal cohesion, minimising friction and projecting a united front ahead of the elections.

This development builds on an earlier series of engagements led by Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who had convened meetings with party elders, members of the State Working Committee, party officials at various levels and other critical stakeholders as part of sustained efforts to consolidate unity and strengthen the party’s structure.
The adopted senatorial candidates are: DCP Mohammed Ahmadu Deba (Gombe Central); Jerry Damara (Gombe South); and Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe North).
Those adopted for the House of Representatives: Usman Bello Kumo (Akko Federal Constituency); Inuwa Garba (Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency); Ali Isa JC (Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency); Fatima Binta Bello (Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituency); Saddam Bello (Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency); and Jamilu Shabewa (Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency).
