Edo State Government has begun moves to settle the rift between Ossiomo Power and its Chinese partner, Jiangsu Communication Clean Energy Technology Co. Ltd (CCETC).
Ossiomo Power used to provide 24 hours electricity to its customers in Benin City and its environs from its power plant in Ologbo, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government.
It does not currently generate electricity due to disagreement with CCETC after shutdown of its power plant.
Commissioner for Power Paul Usenbo said government’s move to resolve the conflict was part of a broader plan to ensure residents enjoyed adequate power supply.
He spoke in Benin City at a stakeholders’ meeting on power supply improvement.
Usenbo said government was looking at setting up a committee to resolve the impasse between Ossiomo and its Chinese partners.
