The North Central All Progressives Congress Forum (NCAPCF) has endorsed former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, for the 2027 governorship election in Nasarawa State, citing his security and administrative experience as key qualifications for the office.
The forum’s Chairman, Saleh Zazzaga, disclosed this yesterday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport before departing for the Lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia. He said the decision followed consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across Nasarawa State and the wider North-Central region, who, according to him, believe Adamu is well-positioned to continue the incumbent governor, Abdullahi Sule’s, work.
“We arrived at this endorsement after extensive consultations with APC leaders and stakeholders in Nasarawa State and the North-Central at large. From our consultations, we believe Mohammed Adamu is the right person to continue the good work of the current governor,” he said.
The forum also highlighted Adamu’s professional background in the Nigeria Police Force, including more than a decade of service with Interpol and his tenure as Nigeria’s 20th Inspector-General of Police from 2019 to 2021.
Zazzaga said the former police chief’s experience at both national and international security levels could strengthen governance and enhance security in the state if elected.
“Having Mohammed Adamu as governor of Nasarawa State will not only guarantee the development of the state, it will also ensure the security of lives and property, not only in Nasarawa but across the North-Central, due to his experience at the highest levels of the international and national security architecture,” he said.
He added that Adamu demonstrated leadership throughout his policing career and in international assignments.
“He served in various commands of the Nigeria Police Force and rose to the pinnacle of his profession, becoming the Inspector-General of Police. Apart from serving the nation meritoriously, he also participated in international assignments across the globe, where he proved his worth and made Nigeria proud,” he said.
The forum noted that several individuals and groups in Nasarawa State had already expressed support for Adamu’s governorship ambition. These include the Dangaladiman Lafia, Dahiru Abdullahi Othman; youth groups under the banner of Progressive Youths for a Greater Nasarawa; the Raba Gardama Group, led by Alhaji Mai Koli and Musa Ali (Dan Sarari Keffi); the Nasarawa Tricycle Riders’ Association; and other stakeholders from Lafia.

Zazzaga therefore called on party members in the state, including newly elected APC executives at the ward, local government, and state levels, to support Adamu’s governorship bid.
“We are directing all our supporters in Nasarawa State, under the leadership of our coordinator, Nasir Babanle, to go all out and support the governorship ambition of former IGP Adamu,” he said.
Adamu had earlier declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in April 2025 during a meeting with members of the APC State Working Committee in Lafia, stating that he was encouraged by calls from stakeholders across the state.
Meanwhile, the forum condemned what it described as the arrest and prosecution of some of its members by officials of the Nasarawa State Government over political disagreements.
Zazzaga cited the case of Kabiru Dalha, a forum member who he said was detained for more than 50 days and is currently facing prosecution.
“We are warning those within the government of Nasarawa State who are using political power to arrest and prosecute citizens they believe are working against their interests to desist from such actions,” he said, adding that such moves could heighten political tensions in the state.
