Gunmen abduct medical doctor in Niger, demand N150m ransom
A medical doctor, Anthony Eghagagara, has been abducted by unknown gunmen at about 9 p.m. on Thursday at his private clinic in Wawa, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

A medical doctor, Anthony Eghagagara, has been abducted by unknown gunmen at about 9 p.m. on Thursday at his private clinic in Wawa, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
Eghagagara, who is also the Head of Medical Services at the General Hospital, New Bussa, was reportedly attending to patients when the attackers stormed the facility, firing shots into the air before whisking him away.
His wife disclosed that the kidnappers have since contacted the family, demanding a ransom of N150 million for his release.
Confirming the incident, the Niger State Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Isah Muhammad Danasabe, said the state government is aware of the development and that efforts are ongoing to secure the doctor’s safe release.
