Winner of Big Brother Naija Level Up season, Phyna, has opened up about her difficult childhood, revealing that she was given the name Blessing by her parents, a name she says she has grown to dislike.

In a recent interview, the reality television star said the name feels disconnected from her early life, which she described as lacking the “blessings” it implies.

Phyna recounted facing emotional hardship while growing up, noting that she often found herself seeking love and acceptance from family members, friends, and romantic partners. She said those experiences frequently left her feeling rejected and verbally criticised.

Describing her upbringing as “crazy,” the former housemate said she missed out on several opportunities that were available to many of her peers.

Despite the challenges, Phyna said she remained determined to change her circumstances. She recalled telling members of her extended family that she would one day achieve fame and financial success, insisting they would eventually witness her rise.

“The name given to me by my parents is Blessing. My reason for hating that name was that I don’t see a sense of blessing in my life. It felt like I was always begging for love – family love, friendship, even in relationships. Even, in fact, dem don use am curse me.

"All aspects of growing up for me were very cràzy. As a teenager, there are things you could get from parents and family, but I didn’t have that. I knew for one that I was going to be big. Growing up, I would always tell my aunts, even when they beat or maltreated me, that I would tell them they would watch me on Television and I would have money”, she said.
