Sports journalists in Imo State are set for a focused capacity-building session on navigating artificial intelligence without losing professional standards, as the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Imo Chapter, hosts a training on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 in the state's capital.
Organised under the leadership of Cosmos Chukwuemeka and with a press statement signed by Secretary Tunde Liadi, the session titled “Ethics & Professionalism in the Generative AI Era” will take place at OtownGist Media and Creative Hub, Owerri.
The resource person for the workshop is Chinedu Hardy Nwadike, Founder of OtownGist Media and Creative Hub, the programme will equip participants with practical knowledge on using AI tools for faster and more efficient sports reporting cum covering match reports, interview transcription, content creation, and digital distribution.
Beyond tools, the training will strongly emphasise accuracy, originality, and credibility, guiding journalists on responsible AI use, fact verification, and maintaining editorial integrity in a rapidly evolving media space. Live demonstrations will also show how AI fits into real-time newsroom operations.
