The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) has begun preparations for a Ramadan special health inspection across all 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs) to promote hygiene and public health during the holy month.

Director-General of KSPHCMB,  Prof. Salisu Ahmed-Ibrahim, stated this while addressing local government Health Educators and Ward Environmental Health Officers at a strategic coordination meeting at the board’s Kano headquarters.

Ahmed-Ibrahim said the engagement aimed to strengthen coordination and preparedness ahead of the inspection exercise, designed to ensure improved sanitation and public health standards throughout Ramadan across communities in the state.

He explained that the exercise aligned with the health and sanitation agenda of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir-Yusuf, emphasising that officers must discharge their duties professionally while respecting host communities.

According to him, the conduct of health and environmental officers in the field reflects the credibility and standards of the board as well as the integrity of the present administration in safeguarding public health.

“The success of this exercise depends on effective supervision, ethical engagement, and professionalism in protecting public health during Ramadan and beyond,” he said, highlighting the importance of accountability and dedication.

The director-general also reaffirmed the board’s commitment to continuous capacity building for health personnel, promising structured training and retraining programmes to enhance service delivery and inspection effectiveness across the state.

He said sustained professional development would equip officers with modern inspection skills, strengthen compliance with public health regulations, and ensure that the exercise achieved impactful outcomes in all LGAs during the holy month.
