Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has urged newly elected members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Working Committee (SWC) to promote unity and inclusiveness within the party.

Kefas praised the peaceful conduct of the state congress, describing it as a step toward strengthening the party. He advised the new leadership to be fair and transparent and to engage the grassroots to ensure inclusiveness and attract more members.

“Unity is key to building a formidable party,” Kefas said, assuring them of his administration’s support.

Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, a former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chairman, was elected the APC State Chairman by consensus.

The Nation gathered that the state congress was decided by consensus after a series of consultations, with the announcement of elected members beginning late Tuesday night.

Bawa, the immediate past PDP chairman, joined Governor Kefas in defecting to the ruling APC on February 2 at a mega rally in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Congratulating the newly elected SWC members, Kefas urged them to “discharge their responsibilities with fairness and commitment.”

“I urge you all to do justice to the party in order to attract more people into the APC family.

“My administration will ensure inclusiveness within the party, and all members shall be carried along in our activities.

“All APC faithful should remain united and supportive of the new leadership, who will work tirelessly to reposition the party in Taraba State ahead of next year’s general election,” the governor said.
