Lai Mohammed set for speaking engagements in UK
Former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, is scheduled to participate in a series of high-level speaking engagements in the United Kingdom, with visits to Cambridge and London
Former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, is scheduled to participate in a series of high-level speaking engagements in the United Kingdom, with visits to Cambridge and London later this month.
According to his official itinerary, the engagements will commence on April 22 in Cambridge, where he will interact with academic communities across multiple institutions. His first stop will be Abbey College Cambridge from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., where he will be hosted by the Principal, Ellen Hesse.
He will subsequently proceed to Cambridge Seminars College for another session scheduled between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The event will be co-hosted by Dr. Ali Kurambayev and Dr. C.A. Davidson, the institution’s principal.
Following the academic engagements, the former minister will attend a luncheon at Eko Kitchen Restaurant in Cambridge from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., offering an opportunity for informal interactions.
Later in the day, Mohammed will visit St. John’s College, University of Cambridge, where he is expected to participate in a broader engagement with scholars and members of the Cambridge University Nigeria Society.
The session, scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., will be hosted in collaboration with Cambridge University and its Nigerian student body.
The engagements will continue on April 24 in London, where Mohammed is slated to speak at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The event, organized by the LSE Programme for African Leadership, will take place at 4:00 p.m.

During the engagements, Lai Mohammed is also expected to speak on his new book, Headlines and Sound Bites: Media Moments That Defined An Administration. The book, according to him, is aimed at correcting misconceptions, providing context, and offering firsthand accounts of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
He described the publication as a personal effort to document his work as the longest-serving Minister of Information and Culture in Nigeria’s history, spanning the sectors of information, culture, tourism, and national orientation.
The visit is expected to provide a platform for discussions on governance, media, and leadership in Africa, drawing participation from students, academics, and policy stakeholders in the UK.
Observers note that the engagements underscore ongoing intellectual exchanges between Nigerian public figures and leading global academic institutions.
