Lasgidi 90.1 FM has recorded a significant rise in audience reach and industry ranking, moving from 38th to 10th position in the latest Media Performance Survey (MPS) within a year. The Lagos-based radio station also grew its listenership from just over one million to about 2.6 million within the same period, a development analysts say reflects shifting audience preferences in one of Africa’s most competitive broadcast markets.

Industry observers attribute the improvement to changes in programming and a stronger focus on content that reflects urban Lagos culture and lifestyle. Flagship shows such as ‘Totori Express,’ ‘Gidi Runs,’ and ‘Area Adugbo’ are widely cited as part of the station’s refreshed lineup aimed at attracting and retaining listeners.

The station’s recent performance has also been accompanied by nominations across broadcasting and entertainment award platforms, pointing to increased visibility within the industry.

At the management level, the turnaround has been linked to reforms introduced under General Manager, Kolade Dominate. The changes reportedly focused on restructuring programmes, repositioning on-air talent and aligning content more closely with audience demand.

With its current Top 10 ranking and growing listenership, the station is gradually establishing itself among notable players in the city’s broadcast space.
