The Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH)  Professor Olumuyiwa  Odusanya has urged the beneficiaries of the free digital skills training for traders and artisans held in the Ikorodu campus of the university to use the skills acquired during the training to promote and enhance their businesses for profitability.

Speaking after the one-month programme on Saturday, Odusanya explained that the maiden free training was organised for traders and artisans within the university's host communities to encourage them to succeed in their ventures.

Professor Odusanya commended the training team and facilitators for their impactful, practical-oriented training of the participants.

''The training commenced on Saturday, 10 April, 2026 and is ending today May 2nd, 2026. The investment by our university reflects the benefits universities bring to their host communities and is a demonstration of the town and gown relationship in our “IMPACT” agenda. I thank the training team for their outstanding devotion to this course.

''In the last four weeks, you have been taught about content creation, advertising, promotion of business, strategies and business analytics. The goal is that you will go out and succeed. Our expectations are high. We expect you will be able to develop an effective social media strategy, high-quality video content, compelling advertisements for your business and make more money. Our charge to you is to go and succeed with all you have learnt and impact others.”

''You now have choices: to remain with manual methods of promoting your business through word of mouth, personal contact, static billboards, or to establish a digital presence and be visible globally. In any field of training, the coach or manager will guide and teach, but it's up to the players or students to use the knowledge and skills to produce results. This is our charge to you.

''Improve yourselves, ensure your email addresses are functional, become better at graphics, branding and be excellence-minded. Invest in yourselves, develop great networks, use your data productively, work within the law, and we wish you well. The university is interested in your progress and will monitor how well you are doing. Work closely with the training team.''
