The Isaac Sewanu Educational Foundation (ISEF) celebrated academic excellence on Wednesday as Lagos State Model Senior College, Kankon emerged the overall winner of the 2026 ISEF Spelling Bee held in Badagry, Lagos State.

The foundation, renowned for empowering young learners, hosted students from several senior secondary schools across the area in a competition designed to test spelling skills, vocabulary, and confidence.

The event, held at Badagry Grammar School, saw students compete in several challenging rounds, demonstrating impressive mastery of the English language. Lagos State Model Senior College, Kankon secured the top spot, while Ikoga Senior Grammar School finished as the first runner-up and Badagry Grammar School Senior took third place.

Mr. Isaac Sewanu, founder of ISEF, said the initiative was aimed at motivating students to take their studies seriously and fostering a culture of academic excellence. He noted that the competition helps students build confidence, improve vocabulary, and develop strong learning habits.

Highlighting the foundation's vision, Sewanu stated that ISEF plans to expand its programmes to reach more students across Badagry and introduce additional educational initiatives to reward and encourage diligence.

Teachers, school administrators, and education advocates who attended the event applauded the foundation for its innovative approach to nurturing talent and promoting learning, underscoring ISEF's growing reputation as a leader in educational empowerment within the community.
