The lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has formally declared her intention to seek re-election in the 2027 National Assembly polls, pledging to consolidate what she described as “a people-driven legacy of service, empowerment and inclusive development.”
Speaking while accepting her nomination forms, the senator, according to a statement from her media office in Abuja, expressed gratitude to her constituents for their continued support. She said her decision to seek a second term is anchored on “the collective progress we have built together and the greater future that lies ahead for Kogi Central.”
“This is not just about me; it is about the hopes and aspirations of our people. The journey so far has been defined by commitment, courage and results. I am inspired to do even more,” she said.
According to the statement, Akpoti-Uduaghan has earned recognition for grassroots-focused representation since assuming office, with a focus on infrastructure development, education, women and youth empowerment, and healthcare interventions.
Her tenure has seen the facilitation of key constituency projects, including road rehabilitation, the distribution of educational materials and scholarships, and vocational training programmes aimed at reducing youth unemployment.
“In the health sector, the senator has supported medical outreach programmes, delivering essential services and supplies to underserved communities across Kogi Central. Her legislative interventions and advocacy have also focused on promoting social equity, economic inclusion and improving the standard of living of her constituents,” the statement said.
While picking her nomination forms, the senator outlined a forward-looking agenda, promising to deepen development efforts across all sectors.
“The next phase of our representation will focus on expanding economic opportunities, strengthening education, improving healthcare access and ensuring that every community in Kogi Central feels the impact of responsive governance,” she stated.
She assured constituents of her continued accessibility and commitment, emphasising that her leadership would remain transparent, accountable and people-oriented.
“I will continue to be your voice—strong, fearless and committed to justice and fairness. Together, we will build a Kogi Central that works for all,” she added.
In a symbolic moment, the senator acknowledged her husband, Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, the Alema of Warri Kingdom, who purchased her nomination forms.
She described the gesture as a strong affirmation of her political journey and shared vision for the people.
“If you had said no, I would not have taken this step towards the 2027 elections. But you did not. Instead, you understood the depth of my purpose and chose to stand firmly beside me,” she said.
“By purchasing my nomination form, you have done more than support a political ambition. You have affirmed a shared vision and shown your readiness to walk this journey with me—from the campaigns to victory for our people.”
She also commended his resilience and support, particularly in the face of past political challenges.
“Your action speaks volumes. It shows you understand the weight of this calling, the sacrifices it demands and the resilience it requires. Despite the trials we faced in 2023, you have chosen courage over comfort and faith over fear,” she added.
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s early declaration and performance record are expected to shape the contest in Kogi Central, as her campaign builds on existing projects while seeking broader grassroots support.
For many constituents, her re-election bid represents continuity in leadership and an opportunity to sustain ongoing development efforts in the district.
