The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and its Sport-For-All Commission have announced that the 2026 Olympic Day celebration will hold on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

Organised under the auspices of Olympic Solidarity, the annual event serves as a global platform to promote the benefits of physical activity, offering Nigerians of all ages the opportunity to embrace the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect.

Dr Abdul Ibrahim, Chairman of the NOC Sport-For-All Commission, said the 2026 campaign would focus on inclusivity and the social joy of movement. He stressed that exercise was far more impactful when shared, and called on every participant to invite someone new to join them in getting active.

The NOC also used the occasion to highlight how simple activities such as jogging and walking could help burn calories, tone muscles and reduce stress.

Following record-breaking participation in 2025, the NOC has dispatched invitation letters to all states of the federation, urging State Sport Councils to begin preparations immediately for a high-impact nationwide event.

NOC President Engr Habu Ahmed Gumel said this year's goal was to bridge generational gaps by using physical activity to foster meaningful connections between young people and older Nigerians.

The committee also called on corporate organisations and philanthropic individuals to support the initiative through financial donations or product partnerships, noting that partners would gain significant brand visibility while aligning with a cause that promotes national unity and wellness.
