The Association of Organic Agriculture Practitioners of Nigeria (NOAN) has inaugurated a new leadership team led by Prof. Olayinka Marcus Olatunji.
The association, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Abosede Ekwonye, also unveiled an ambitious 100-day agenda aimed at expanding organic agriculture and strengthening its national impact.
The association said the transition marks the beginning of a renewed push to deepen farmer empowerment, scale up awareness of organic food systems, and position the sector as a key driver of sustainable agriculture and food security in Nigeria.
Speaking on behalf of the new executives, Olatunji described the moment as critical for the country’s agricultural future.
“The team is honoured to serve at this important time for agriculture in Nigeria,” he said, adding that the administration is committed to “expanding opportunities for farmers, increasing awareness of organic food systems, promoting partnerships, and positioning NOAN as a stronger voice for sustainable agriculture nationwide.”

The newly elected leadership outlined a detailed first 100-day plan focused on boosting membership engagement across the country, intensifying national awareness campaigns on organic agriculture, and strengthening farmer training as well as certification support systems. The agenda, according to the statement, also prioritises building strategic partnerships with both public and private institutions, promoting youth participation in agriculture, and enhancing the association’s media and digital visibility.
NOAN emphasised that the reforms are designed to reinforce its long-standing commitment to supporting farmers, safeguarding consumer health, encouraging environmentally responsible farming practices, and contributing to national food security.
The association also paid tribute to its outgoing leadership for laying the groundwork for growth in Nigeria’s organic agriculture space, acknowledging their “service, dedication, and contributions to advancing organic agriculture in Nigeria.”
In a broader call to action, NOAN urged members, stakeholders, development partners, and the media to align with its renewed vision. The association said it is working “to build a healthier, more sustainable future for Nigeria,” anchored on environmentally friendly farming systems.
"Olatunji, a distinguished academic with a Ph.D. in Soil Science, brings decades of experience in agricultural research, education, and policy advocacy to the role.
"Widely regarded as a leading voice in sustainable farming, he has championed initiatives that improve soil health, boost productivity without harmful chemicals, and empower smallholder farmers.
"Olatunji's track record includes advancing agroecological practices, strengthening partnerships among government agencies, international organisations, and grassroots farming communities, and shaping national conversations around climate-smart agriculture and rural development.
"Under his leadership, NOAN is expected to consolidate its role as Nigeria’s foremost umbrella body for organic agriculture and agroecology, while driving innovation and long-term sustainability across the country’s food systems," the statement read.
