The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has officially unveiled its Calendar of Events for the January–September 2026 competitive season, laying out a bold and strategically structured programme designed to elevate the standard of volleyball across the country.
The comprehensive roadmap underscores the Federation’s renewed commitment to excellence, inclusivity, youth development, and enhanced international competitiveness across both indoor and beach volleyball disciplines.
The 2026 season commenced in January with nationwide registration of clubs and players — a critical exercise aimed at strengthening compliance, eligibility standards, and structured participation within Nigeria’s volleyball ecosystem.
February and March will feature a series of major domestic competitions including the Super Cup 2026, Presidential Cup Beach Volleyball Championship, Nigeria Police Games, National Open/Star Tour, and Phase I of the Premier League.
These competitions are strategically positioned to deepen talent discovery, provide consistent competitive platforms, and ensure technical standardization across the Federation’s operational zones.
Beyond domestic competition, the NVBF has mapped out an ambitious continental schedule to bolster Nigeria’s presence on the African stage. Nigerian clubs and national teams are billed to compete in the CAVB Zone 3 Club Championship, the African Clubs Championship (Men and Women), Zone 3 Nations Cup, Africa Beach Continental U21 Championship, and the Nations Cup for both men and women.
These engagements are expected to enhance Nigeria’s continental ranking, increase global visibility, and expose athletes and officials to elite-level competition.
Beach volleyball continues to receive targeted investment and development attention in 2026. The calendar features multiple national tours, youth championships, and continental qualifiers aimed at expanding participation and building a stronger pipeline of young talents.

The Federation remains committed to improving infrastructure and technical capacity nationwide to ensure sustainable growth in the discipline.
The Nigeria Premier Volleyball League will be staged in two phases, ensuring sustained competition and improved match rhythm for participating clubs throughout the season.
Additionally, the Federation will take part in the National Sports Festival, reinforcing its grassroots development drive and promoting volleyball development at state and youth levels across the federation.
In a bid to elevate officiating and match management standards, the NVBF will organize technical and referee development courses in collaboration with international governing bodies. This initiative is designed to keep Nigerian referees and technical officials globally competitive and aligned with evolving international standards.
The 2026 calendar represents far more than a list of competitions; it is a strategic blueprint for institutional strengthening, youth inclusion, and long-term international competitiveness.
The Nigeria Volleyball Federation is calling on corporate partners, state associations, stakeholders, and the broader sporting community to collaborate in delivering a successful and impactful 2026 season.
With structured planning and collective support, Nigerian volleyball is poised to reach new heights in 2026 and beyond.
