Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has purchased 54 construction equipment for the 18 councils.

The earth moving equipment will be inaugurated by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

A statement by Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okpebholo, Patrick Ebojele, said the purchase of the equipment would be a defining moment for grassroots governance.

He noted that the event scheduled for Thursday in Benin City underscored Governor Okpebholo administration’s commitment to practical governance, real infrastructure renewal and strengthening of local governance structures.

“The equipment — including graders, excavators, rollers and other heavy-duty machines — are expected to boost road construction, rural access projects, drainage rehabilitation and other community-driven infrastructure works.

“By placing critical tools directly in the hands of local councils, the government aims to fast-track development at the grassroots and reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks.”

“The initiative is a strategic intervention designed to empower council leadership, stimulate economic activity in rural communities and deliver tangible dividends of democracy across Edo’s three senatorial districts.”
