Non-indigenes residing in Ondo State have declared their support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, pledging to mobilise no fewer than one million voters for his re-election in 2027.

The declaration was made on Tuesday during a meeting tagged “Voices of Non-Indigenes in Ondo State” held in Akure.

The group, drawn from the 18 local government areas of the state, said it would intensify efforts to consolidate support for the president in recognition of what it described as his leadership style, economic reforms, and policy direction.

Speaking at the event, President of the Non-Indigenes in Ondo State, Usor Fidelis, said non-indigenes contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the state.

Fidelis noted that the group’s membership cuts across traders, artisans, transport workers, and other professionals operating within the state.

According to her, the group aims to mobilise at least one million voters who will support the president and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections.

She added that many members of the group who live and conduct business in the state have benefited from the inclusive policies of the Tinubu administration and remain committed to supporting his political agenda.

"Today’s gathering is both significant and purposeful. We have assembled here to formally declare our support for the re-election of His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose leadership has continued to demonstrate courage, vision, and determination in steering Nigeria through a critical period of national transformation. We are going to mobilise one million votes for him to be re-elected.

"So, this is not just a rally; it is a celebration of leadership, unity, and the shared vision of a stronger Nigeria. As non-indigenes who have made Ondo State our home, we are proud to be part of this great state and to contribute to its economic growth, cultural diversity, and social harmony.

"Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria has taken bold steps toward economic reforms, infrastructural development, and national renewal. While the journey of reform requires patience and resilience, we believe strongly that the foundation being laid today will secure a brighter future for generations to come," Fidelis said.

According to her, the group had already commenced mobilisation efforts across markets, trade associations, and various community clusters where non-indigenes are predominantly engaged in commerce and other economic activities.

She added that the rally was not only a political event but also a demonstration of unity among residents of diverse backgrounds who call Ondo State home.

"It is not just a rally, it is a celebration of leadership, unity, and the shared vision of a stronger Nigeria." As non-indigenes who have made Ondo State our home, we are proud to contribute to its economic growth, cultural diversity, and social harmony."

Fidelis expressed appreciation to the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his support and role in strengthening one of the formidable groups, the Progressive Network for Tinubu (PNT), which is rallying support for President Tinubu in the state.

Welcoming the support of the group, the Director-General of the Progressive Network for Tinubu (PNT), Olumide Obadele, said the non-indigene has begun to mobilise communities across the state and was confident of surpassing the support recorded in the 2023 election.

Obadele noted that the non-indigene community, which also comprises about 20 different groups in the state, had unanimously endorsed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“We have about 20 communities under the umbrella of non-indigenes in Ondo State, and they have unanimously declared their support for the re-election of Bola Tinubu. This development excites us, and we are glad about it.

"In the 2023 election, non-indigenes delivered about 30 percent of the votes for Tinubu. I can assure you that in 2027 it will be more than that. Ondo State will deliver nothing less than one million votes for Tinubu," he said.

The PNT DG noted that the level of mobilisation witnessed at the gathering would translate into a significant number of votes in the 2027 general election for President Tinubu.

He also revealed that the Progressive Network for Tinubu had engaged stakeholders across the non-indigene communities in the state under the influence of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to encourage support for Tinubu’s re-election.

Obadele, however, urged members of the non-indigene communities to ensure they obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the next election, stressing that continued support for the president was necessary for Nigeria’s progress.

"We must orient our people to get their PVCs. The best we can do for the country is to re-elect Tinubu," he added.
