The Ondo State Agricultural Empowerment Coalition (OSAEC) has commended the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture and Agribusiness, Rotimi Wemimo Akinsola, and Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for what it described as ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening agricultural productivity and food security in Ondo State.

In a statement issued on Monday, OSAEC said recent initiatives coordinated through the governor’s office and agricultural agencies have improved infrastructure, enhanced farmers’ capacity, and increased opportunities for agribusiness development.

OSAEC described Akinsola as a “result-driven administrator,” noting that his coordination of agricultural programmes has contributed to repositioning the state’s agricultural sector and improving access for farmers.

According to the body, the grading and rehabilitation of roads leading to farm settlements have eased transportation challenges, particularly during the rainy season. It said the improved access has enabled farmers to move produce more efficiently to markets, reduce post-harvest losses, and increase income.

OSAEC also highlighted the state’s collaboration with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), which it said has provided farmers with training in modern farming methods, crop management, and agribusiness practices.

The coalition added that participants in the programme have received improved seedlings and financial support to expand their operations, contributing to increased productivity and sustainable farming practices.

The group further noted the introduction of the “Adiye Irorun” poultry initiative, which provides training, mentorship, and resources to poultry farmers. It said the programme has helped beneficiaries establish poultry businesses, generate income, and improve protein supply in local communities.

OSAEC said the combined initiatives are strengthening the state’s agricultural value chain and positioning it to attract investment within Nigeria’s agribusiness sector.

The coalition reaffirmed its support for policies and programmes aimed at improving food security, empowering farmers, and promoting sustainable economic growth in the state.
