The Edo State Police Command said it had arrested 87 suspected kidnappers across the state from January 1st till date.

It said it nabbed some kidnappers who carried dane guns to pose as hunters.

Edo Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, who spoke at a press briefing in Benin City, said the arrest was made with the aid of helicopters, drone technology, gallant and dedicated police operatives.

He said Police operatives have conducted several high-risk joint operations, moving from forest to forest, into the heart of thick bushes where kidnappers' dens once operated with impunity.

The Edo Police boss said many kidnappers' camps have been dismantled while suspected kidnappers arrested with their arms and other exhibits recovered.

Besides the kidnappers, Agbonika said 13 suspected murder suspects were arrested, 14 suspected armed robbers were nabbed and15 suspected.

He said 30 kidnapped victims were rescued, adding that routes that were once feared have been reopened.

Items recovered in the period under review, according to the CP, were six vehicles, three motorcycles, 39 phones, cache of arms and ammunition, two fabricated AK-47 rifles with six Rounds of live ammunition, one AK-47 rifle with 30 rounds of live ammunition, 16 rounds of 9mm ammunition, five cut-to-size single barrelled-shotguns, 28 Dane guns, one Makarov pistol, one Beretta pistol, one double-barrelled shotgun and 20 live cartridges

Agbonika said the successes were recorded while working in close synergy with the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Airforce, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Edo State Security Corps, the Department of State Services and local hunters.

He vowed to ensure rescue of a Police Inspector, Segun Obanowa, who was abducted on February 8th at Imoga in Edo State.

"Our carefully selected tactical operatives have undergone specialised drone training, giving the reconnaissance Command real-time aerial capabilities. These unmanned systems now support bush clearance missions, track fleeing suspects, monitor flashpoints, and provide live-feed intelligence during operations. With this advancement, criminals who once hid deep within forest corridors now have nowhere to hide.

"Let me be clear. Edo State is totally out of bounds to criminals. No forest will be too thick to overcome.

"No hideout too remote. No network too fortified."
