The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, has commended President Bola Tinubu and the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, over the ongoing reconstruction and expansion of the Ado-Ijan-Ikare Road.

The union also lauded the two other senators; Yemi Adaramodu ( Ekiti South) and Cyril Fasuyi ( Ekiti North) for their roles in facilitating the project.

In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Engr. Caleb Adeosun, and Publicity Secretary, Oyewale Oyelola, the union described the road's expansion as a major relief to the polytechnic's staff and students.

ASUP-FPA said the road, which serves as a major access route to the institution, had been in a deplorable state for years, prompting protests by members of the academic community.

The union particularly praised the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, for engaging union leaders in March 2024 after a protest over the road's condition and for assuring them of the Federal Government’s intervention.

The union said the reconstruction work reflects the commitment of the President Bola Tinubu administration to infrastructure development in Ekiti State. It urged the three senators to sustain their oversight functions to ensure the contractor delivers quality work according to specifications.

ASUP-FPA also commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for constructing the ring road linking Ijan, Afao and Iworoko communities, noting that it reduced traffic congestion and travel time for members of staff.

It further appreciated Afe Babalola University's founder, Aare Afe Babalola, for his consistent palliative interventions on the road over the years.
