A statement by the Chairman of Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs and Waziri Sokoto, Prof Sambo Junaidu, said Sultanate Advisory Council on Religious Affairs with National Moonlighting Committee got reports from Moonlighting committees confirming sighting of the new moon.
Abubakar urged Muslims to dedicate themselves to worship and devotion this month.

He urged Nigerians to use the period to pray for progress, peace and prosperity of the country, adding prayer for the nation’s leaders too was equally important to growth.
He noted importance of peaceful co-existence among Muslims and called on wealthy individuals to support the needy and less privileged, making it easier for them to observe the fast.
He prayed for God’s guidance and wisdom for the nation’s leaders as they navigate the affairs of the nation.
The Sultan felicitates with Nigeria Muslim Ummah and wished them Allah’s guidance and blessings.
