Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has said she sometimes wishes she were a man, citing societal pressures and stigma faced by women.

The reality TV star made the remark on her podcast while discussing gender expectations surrounding ambition and success.

According to her, men appear to have a more straightforward path, with society largely expecting them to work hard and attain financial stability.

She argued that women, on the other hand, are often subjected to judgment and restrictions that limit their aspirations.

Phyna noted that numerous societal rules apply to women, making life comparatively easier for men.

She added that such expectations can discourage women from pursuing ambitious goals or stepping beyond traditional roles.

“I low-key wish I were a man. I feel it’s much easier for guys, but, did girls, we’ve been stigmatised, and there are so many rules and regulations covering us”, she said.

Phyna won the BBNaija Level Up season in 2022 and has previously commented on challenges affecting women in entertainment and business.
