The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, emphasized that sustained civil–military cooperation is key to safeguarding the Niger Delta region.

Air Marshal Aneke said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, at the Government House Yenagoa.

The CAS said the visit was part of the ongoing operational tour of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) formations and operational theatres across the country.

In a statement by the NAF’s spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the visit was aimed at assessing operational readiness, improving personnel welfare and strengthening partnerships critical to national security.

Air Marshal Aneke described his return to Yenagoa as particularly significant, having previously served as Air Officer Commanding Mobility Command.

He said: “Bayelsa State occupies a strategic place within Nigeria’s security and economic architecture.

“The Nigerian Air Force remains committed to working closely with the Bayelsa State Government and other stakeholders to ensure the protection of lives, critical national assets and sustained peace across the Niger Delta.”

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining the strong partnership with the Nigerian Air Force in promoting security and development in the state.

During his visit to Bayelsa strategic operational the CAS engaged personnel of Headquarters Mobility Command and collocated Nigerian Air Force (NAF) units, commissioned key infrastructure projects and inaugurated a new training institution.
