The third batch of beneficiaries under the Distinguished Senator Mohammed Sani Musa International Scholarship Programme has departed Nigeria for the Russian Federation, marking another phase in efforts to develop globally competitive human capital from Niger State.

The students, selected on merit, are expected to undertake specialised academic programmes at the National University of Science and Technology (MISIS) in Moscow. Their fields of study include Aircraft Manufacturing, Oil and Gas Engineering, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Information Security, Construction, and Nursing.

Their departure follows earlier batches under the initiative, with 100 beneficiaries sent to India for specialised training and another 50 deployed to China for medical studies, highlighting the growing reach and impact of the programme.

At the departure point, Hajia Saadatu Sani Musa, wife of the sponsor of the scheme, was present to see the students off, offering words of encouragement and guidance. She described the opportunity as both a privilege and a responsibility, urging the beneficiaries to uphold high standards in their academic pursuits and personal conduct.

She advised the students to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to excellence, noting that they represent not only their families but also Niger State and Nigeria at large.

The scholarship programme is part of broader efforts to equip young Nigerians with the skills and expertise needed in critical sectors, while fostering international exposure and capacity building.

“This is not just a journey of education, but a defining moment in your lives. You have been chosen based on merit, and that alone places a responsibility on you to excel. As you depart for the Russian Federation, remember that you are ambassadors of your families, your state, and your country,” she said.

She further charged the students to uphold the values of integrity and respect, while maximising the exposure and knowledge available to them in their respective fields of study.

“We are confident in your abilities and proud of your achievements so far. We look forward to your return as highly skilled professionals who will contribute meaningfully to the development of our society,” she added.

All travel documentation, including study visas, had been secured before departure, ensuring a seamless transition for the beneficiaries.

The scholarship programme, widely regarded as one of the most impactful private-sector-driven educational interventions in Niger State, continues to reflect a strategic commitment to youth empowerment and long-term socio-economic development through access to world-class education.
