...hails former lawmaker as patriot, stabilising force in public service

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, on the occasion of his 70th birthday, describing him as a patriot and distinguished statesman who has served Nigeria with dedication.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the former lawmaker for his contributions to the legal profession and national development through his service in the National Assembly.

Ndoma-Egba represented Cross River Central Senatorial District in the Senate for three consecutive terms from 2003 to 2015.

President Tinubu noted that the former Senate Leader of the 7th National Assembly played a significant role during critical moments in Nigeria’s political history, including periods of leadership challenges in the country.

The President particularly commended Ndoma-Egba’s interventions and leadership in the Senate, describing him as a steady and stabilising voice in governance.

“I rejoice with family, friends and associates of one of the finest legal luminaries and statesmen in the country on this important milestone of turning 70,” Tinubu said.

He added that the former senator had served the country in several capacities with distinction.

“Senator Ndoma-Egba has served the country well in many capacities. He has been a stabilising force in public service and politics,” the President stated.

Tinubu also highlighted Ndoma-Egba’s unique professional achievement of becoming a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) while serving as a senator, noting that he remains the first and only lawyer to attain the prestigious rank while holding legislative office.

“It is on record that he remains the first and only lawyer to date to earn the prestigious title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria while in the Senate,” he said.

The President congratulated the former Senate Leader on reaching the milestone age of 70 and prayed for continued good health and many more years of service to the nation.

“I congratulate Ndoma-Egba on his 70th birthday and wish him more years and good health as he continues to serve Nigeria and humanity,” Tinubu added.
