President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condoled with the family of former Administrative Secretary of the Oil Mineral Producing Area Development Commission (OMPADEC), Sir Albert Ikechukwu Nnamani, who passed away at the age of 82.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the late Nnamani as a dedicated public servant whose contributions to national development would be remembered for years.
Tinubu also extended his condolences to the government and people of Enugu State, as well as to the friends and professional colleagues of the deceased, noting that Nnamani served the country with distinction in several public roles.
The President recalled that the late administrator had a distinguished career with the defunct OMPADEC, the federal intervention agency established to address developmental challenges in the oil-producing communities of the Niger Delta.
OMPADEC was later restructured and revitalised as the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), which now oversees development initiatives across the region.

Beyond his service at OMPADEC, Nnamani also served as Chairman of the Enugu State Civil Service Commission and retired in 2007 as Director in the Department of Finance and Administration at the Federal Ministry of Power and Steel.
President Tinubu noted that the late public servant’s career reflected a lifetime of dedication to national service, beginning with his enrolment in the Armed Forces in 1963 and continuing through decades of public administration.
According to the President, Nnamani played a significant role in promoting peace-building efforts across the country, particularly in the Niger Delta, where government intervention programmes aimed at addressing development deficits and tensions in oil-producing communities.
“Sir Nnamani will always be remembered for his service to his community and the nation,” the President said.
Tinubu prayed for the repose of the departed’s soul and asked God to grant comfort and strength to his family and loved ones in their moment of grief.
