From Rasaq Ibrahim, Ado-Ekiti

A public policy analyst, Dr. Olusola John Ojo, has said the state visit of President Bola Tinubu to the United Kingdom could play a crucial role in Nigeria’s economic recovery, if properly executed.

Ojo said this in a statement yesterday, noting that the President’s engagement with King Charles III and other key stakeholders comes at a critical time when Nigeria is grappling with economic challenges, including inflation and currency instability.

He described the visit as a strategic diplomatic move aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and repositioning Nigeria within the global economic space.

Ojo said that the high-level reception accorded President Tinubu exemplified growing international recognition and provides an opportunity to attract foreign investments into the country.

The public analyst noted that the United Kingdom’s position as a global financial hub makes it a valuable partner in the country’s quest for economic revitalisation and job creation.

He added that the president engagement with business leaders and policymakers would  send a strong signal of Nigeria’s openness to investment and unalloyed commitment to rebuilding investor confidence.

Ojo, however, cautioned that the success of the visit would depend largely on the government’s ability to translate diplomatic engagements into tangible outcomes.

He noted that past bilateral agreements often suffered poor implementation, urging the administration to ensure that commitments reached during the visit are backed by clear policies and effective follow-through.

He also commended the inclusion of interfaith dialogue in the visit’s itinerary, describing it as a reflection of Nigeria’s diversity and a positive step toward promoting unity and tolerance on the global stage.

Acknowledging the significance of ceremonial events, including a state banquet hosted by King Charles III, the analyst maintained that Nigerians would ultimately judge the visit by its impact on investment inflow, economic stability, and national development.
