The Nigeria Enterprise Community in the United Kingdom has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the ongoing procurement reforms in Nigeria, describing them as transformative and beneficial to both local and diaspora businesses.

The group gave the commendation during the Face of Africa Leadership Honour, organised by Triangle International Magazine, where the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, was honoured as the Public Sector Reformer of the Year. The event took place at King's College, London, on Thursday.

Speaking at the event, the President of the Association, Ms Chritsiana Titus Ayodele, who was also in attendance, described the award as well-deserved, noting that the reforms in Nigeria’s procurement sector have significantly improved transparency and access to opportunities.

She said the recognition of the BPP boss highlights the importance of the procurement sector and called on Nigerians to appreciate the efforts of President Tinubu in driving reforms and appointing capable individuals to manage critical institutions.

"Earlier in the year, we read that Nigeria’s procurement sector is now ranked among the top 15 in the world. For many people at home, especially those who are not directly involved in business, this may not mean much, but for us in the diaspora, it has made a big difference, as continued improvements in the procurement system will attract more foreign investment and encourage greater participation of us, Nigerians, in the diaspora in national development."

Ms Christiana explained that the reforms have made it easier for Nigerians abroad to bid for government contracts without needing personal connections, adding that the system is becoming more open, competitive, and merit-driven. "For me, this award to Dr. Adedokun is well deserved and a reflection of the growing international recognition of Nigeria’s reform efforts in public sector governance."

She further praised President Tinubu for his commitment to institutional reforms, stating that the administration’s focus on transparency and accountability is restoring confidence in Nigeria’s business environment. "The President has shown strong leadership by putting the right people in sensitive positions and allowing them to deliver. These reforms are not just policies on paper; they are already making a real impact."
