First Lady Oluremi Tinubu on Thursday called for greater unity among Nigerians, declaring that prosperity can only flourish where citizens live in harmony.

Speaking during her homecoming to Warri Kingdom in Delta State, where she was warmly received by the paramount ruler, Ogiame Atuwatse III, the First Lady urged the people to rise above differences and embrace collective progress.

“Where there is unity, there is prosperity. The Bible tells us that it is pleasant to dwell together in unity, for there is where God commanded blessings”, she said, citing Psalm 133:1-3.

The event, held at the palace of the Olu of Warri, drew a large crowd of traditional chiefs, political leaders, women groups and community members who gathered to honour the First Lady, whose maternal roots trace back to Warri.

Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Senator Tinubu assured the people of the Federal Government’s continued support, noting that Delta State was making commendable progress under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

According to a statement issued by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady reaffirmed her commitment to grassroots empowerment through her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), announcing a donation of ₦50 million to support 1,000 women petty traders in the kingdom.

The financial support, she explained, is aimed at strengthening small-scale businesses and improving household incomes, particularly among women who remain the backbone of local economies.

Earlier in his remarks, Governor Oborevwori praised the First Lady for her consistency and sincerity towards the people of Delta State, noting that she had visited the state three times, twice when he belonged to another political party and again after his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“She has a large heart, and those visits where she flagged off the women petty traders empowerment and the launch of the Free to Shine campaign encouraged me to make up my mind. May God continue to empower you to put smiles on the faces of more Nigerians”, the governor said.

In his address, the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, called on the people of the kingdom to let go of past grievances in the interest of peace and development.

“By doing away with past hurts and grievances, there will be peace, progress and prosperity,” the monarch said, adding that the entire kingdom was proud of the First Lady.

“We are proud of who you are, who you have become. Our women know how to take very good care of their husbands. Thank you for being a very good example to our girls and women,” he stated.

At the highlight of the ceremony, Senator Oluremi Tinubu was conferred with the revered traditional title of Utukpa-Oritse of Warri Kingdom, also known as Ugbone, meaning “The Light of God.”

The conferment, according to palace sources, symbolises the kingdom’s appreciation of her humanitarian contributions, commitment to women empowerment and her enduring ties to her maternal homeland.
