Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria (AWAMN) yesterday endorsed Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat for the governorship seat.
Members of the association announced their support for Hamzat during their meeting at Alausa.
National President, Dr. Olugbenga Adebola, said the decision was in line with the position of their Grand Patron, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he said had supported capable and experienced leadership for Lagos.
He said AWAMN had benefited from President Tinubu and the state government, hence their decision to back his choice.
Adebola described Hamzat as a seasoned technocrat and an administrator, whose track record in governance and public service set him apart as a capable successor to lead the state.
He said Hamzat’s experience spanned critical sectors of governance, having served under successive administrations in the state.
He recalled that Hamzat held key positions, including Commissioner for Science and Technology and later that of Works and Infrastructure during the administrations of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Babatunde Raji Fashola.
He noted that in the roles, Hamzat played pivotal parts in driving infrastructural development and technological advancement across the state.
Adebola said Hamzat is serving as deputy governor under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a position in which he has continued to contribute to policy formulation and implementation.
Two aspirants, former Lagos Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and Jide Adediran popularly called Jandor have backed Hamzat’s candidature. Ambode congratulated him on emerging as the consensus candidate and Adediran withdrew from the governorship race.
