The Zamfara State government said it’s deepening collaboration and strengthening institutional partnerships for disability inclusion across the state.
The Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Salisu Musa Tsafe, disclosed this when he received the Executive Chairman, Usman Ahmad Nahuche, the Executive Chairman of Zamfara State Persons with Disabilities Board (ZSPwDB), in his office yesterday.
Mr Tsafe said the ministry fully recognised the provisions of the disability law, stressing that both institutions share a common mandate under the government to serve vulnerable populations.
He further assured of enhanced collaboration, including plans to jointly explore the establishment of disability desks across the 14 local government areas to improve access to humanitarian services at the grassroots level.
“We are committed to working closely with the Board to ensure no one is left behind,” he said.
The commissioner also pledged support in strengthening partnerships with development partners, NGOs, and intervention programmes, including Conditional Cash Transfers, grants, and MSME support initiatives targeted at improving the livelihoods of persons with disabilities.
In his speech, the board chairman commended the commissioner for his longstanding commitment to persons with disabilities, noting that his inclusive approach to humanitarian interventions predates the establishment of the board.
He said that with the establishment of the board, all interventions concerning persons with disabilities require a structured engagement and coordination with the board, in line with the directive of Governor Dauda Lawal.
