From Jide Orintunsin - Abuja

Female members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ireland, under the Renewed Hope Women’s Network (RHWN), have unveiled plans to mobilise voters across Nigeria in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of next year’s presidential election.

The group said it would drive the initiative through an empowerment programme tagged “Initiative for Inclusive Grassroots Development and Political Participation,” to be implemented across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Convener of the network and leader of APC Professional Women in Ireland, Joyce Viyanto Antonza Ibrahim, disclosed the plan during a press conference in Abuja over the weekend.

Expressing concern over rising voter apathy recorded during recent off-season elections in parts of the country, Ibrahim said the network aims to reverse the trend through grassroots mobilisation and sustainable empowerment of eligible voters.

She explained that the strategy would focus on sensitising and engaging women and youths of voting age, noting that the group had already commenced outreach efforts to boost participation in the electoral process.

"We sensitise them on the importance of participating in elections, preach the renewed hope mandate to them. We have to market to them all that the President has done under the renewed hope agenda and what he intends to do again if re-elected.

"We will reach out to the voters, especially those in the grassroots to ensure that they vote for President Tinubu," she said.

Asked if the initiative has a target votes they intend to secure for President Tinubu's re-election, she said: "We have over 200 million people in Nigeria according to the last census. I can confirm that my own grassroots which is my local government and wards will give him all the votes from there."

"We will network with friends and sisters from other states in the six geopolitical zones including the North West where I come from. We will mobilise extensively to give Mr President the required votes," she promised.

Explaining the vision of the network, Ibrahim said, "This initiative aligns closely with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, whose administration has prioritised inclusive governance, citizen engagement, and grassroots participation."

"As the Convener, having returned from the diaspora where I serve as APC Professional Women Leader, Ireland Chapter, I am personally committed to advancing this agenda.

"This initiative bridges diaspora experience with grassroots action, mobilises women, strengthens political participation, and supports the effective delivery of the Renewed Hope Agenda across communities.

"I also wish to commend Her Excellency Oluremi Tinubu, whose unwavering advocacy for women’s empowerment continues to inspire this movement as weil as the APC National Women Leader, whose dedication to expanding the political space for women continues to inspire initiatives like this across the country," she said.
