There was pandemonium in Ede, hometown of Governor Ademola Adeleke, yesterday, as members of Accord Party and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clashed with supporters of All Progressives Congress (APC), over kick-off of the building of a council complex in Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State.
The Nation gathered that the clash led to vandalism of vehicles in the area.
It was learnt that the local government chairman elected on the platform of APC, who was purportedly reinstated last year, Mr Elliot Adeyemi, fixed yesterday for the kick-off of the construction of a shopping complex, which had earlier been planned by the PDP-led executives.

However, when he arrived the venue with APC supporters for the exercise, Accord and PDP members stormed the venue to disrupt the event, saying: ‘’Adeyemi is an illegal chairman of the council, hence he cannot undertake the task of a council chairman elected on the platform of PDP, Taiwo Amodu.’’
Police were later invited. They fired teargas to disperse supporters of the parties.
APC and PDP factional council chairmen traded blames, as they both insisted that they were the legally-backed executives of Ede North Local Government.
Amodu said the idea of building the complex was conceived by him, but Adeyemi forcefully and illegally wanted to perform his duty as the council chairman.
However, Adeyemi said: “The clash is between Yes or No and Sit-at-home chairmen. Nobody brought in thugs to the venue.”
