Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State on Sunday dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a non-factor in state politics, declaring the party "dead on arrival” in Kano.

A statement signed by Yusuf's chief press secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, on Sunday stated that the governor made the remarks while addressing a massive crowd of supporters in Kano, shortly after returning from Abuja, where he attended key political meetings.

Yusuf said the ADC's struggles with unresolved internal conflicts have crippled the party and diminished its chances in Kano's political arena. He added that the party is severely suffering from a lack of grassroots support.

"Kano remains firmly under the control of the ruling political structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC), backed by the overwhelming support of the people," Yusuf said, urging his supporters to remain united and committed to consolidating their gains.

The governor also reaffirmed his administration's dedication to delivering on its promises, with governance and development as top priorities.

"We will rally solid support for President Bola Ahmad Tinubu, and I am very optimistic that APC will, in sha Allah, win all the elective positions in 2027," he said, highlighting the positive impact of the partnership between the state and federal government on infrastructure and social safety initiatives.

Muhammad said the governor's remarks underscore the APC's confidence in Kano, with Yusuf predicting a landslide victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
