Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa described the nomination of Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a well-deserved recognition of competence and integrity.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor said Mr. Oyedele’s elevation to the junior ministerial role reflected his outstanding contributions to fiscal policy reforms and national economic management.
President Tinubu on Tuesday forwarded Mr. Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate for confirmation, replacing Doris Anite-Uzoka, who has been redeployed as Minister of State in the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, marking her third portfolio in the administration.
According to the President’s spokesman, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the nomination was conveyed in a letter to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, seeking legislative approval.
Until his nomination, Mr. Oyedele, an indigene of Ikaram-Akoko in Ondo State, served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he spearheaded major changes aimed at overhauling Nigeria’s tax system.
Positing, Governor Aiyedatiwa said the appointment was not only a personal achievement for Mr. Oyedele but also a source of pride for the state.
"Mr. Taiwo Oyedele’s emergence as Minister of State for Finance is a testament to his exceptional competence, professional integrity, and longstanding contributions to fiscal policy and economic reforms in our country," the governor said.

The governor commended the President for what he described as another honour to Ondo state, noting that the appointment further strengthened the state’s presence at the federal level.
"We are profoundly grateful to Mr. President for once again recognising the capacity and quality of Ondo indigenes. This appointment affirms confidence in Mr. Oyedele’s expertise," he added.
The governor expressed confidence that Mr. Oyedele’s experience in taxation, revenue administration, and public finance would enhance national economic management.
He added that his experience as a tax czar would also create opportunities for collaboration that would benefit the state, particularly in revenue optimisation, infrastructure financing, and sustainable development.
Aiyedatiwa applauded the new minister while wishing him a successful and impactful tenure, assuring him of the support of the government and people of the state in his new assignment.
