Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, has emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State for next year’s election.
His emergence followed a consensus agreement in which all 10 co-aspirants withdrew their nominations and endorsed his candidacy, a rare display of unity ahead of the polls, party leaders said.
The process was the outcome of consultations and strategic deliberations by party leaders and key stakeholders, including former Benue State Governor, Chief Samuel Ortom; Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro; and the state PDP chairman, Ezekiel Adaji.
The decision was subsequently ratified by the aspirants, who acknowledged the process’s credibility and pledged their support for Aondoakaa.
